George Marriott set up his first workshop at Threeways in 1985. The pottery is situated in the Village of Burgh -le-Marsh , Lincolnshire, four miles from the coastal town of Skegness.

Specialising in high-fired stoneware pots for domestic use, George also makes slab and other constructions using a variety of clays and mixed media.

Stoneware, so called because of its natural stone like appearance is especially tough when thrown and it is much more durable than low fired Earthenware. Stoneware fired to nearly 1300 ºC  is dense, strong and durable. It is chip resistant, impervious to water and can withstand high and low temperatures. This makes it ideal for outdoors, however, if

the sculpture has an opening it is wise to put a cover over in winter in case any collected water freezes and expands. Inside the house, it can be used in the oven, microwave, dishwasher, refrigerator and freezer.
